All the vintage era characters get a good amount of attention though and I definitely think the ugly-cute factor of tarako-kuchibiru (fishlips) is a very popular design philosophy, especially in Japan compared to the West, which usually just sees it as plain ugly. You see fishlip charas in general pick up steam in Japan with characters like Sanrio's Hangyodon or Gabon/Spike from Mario.
