>>7814613What makes the staff thing so funny is that there was never an actual staff of Plagueis. A shadowy image of him in a Tag and Bink comic had him holding a staff, a miniature of Plagueis showed him holding one (though it was influenced by the comic) and the Hasbro figure gave him one because it was combining different depictions of him into a weird composite design (and the lightsaber that plugs into the staff to make a saberstaff is entirely unique to the figure and exists nowhere in any other Plagueis depictions), but beyond that he's never had a staff. The novel never describes him having one. Those three sources are the only time he's ever had a staff and none of them give it any kind of significance.
You'd tell people this and the typical response was some variation of SHUT UP YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING HOW STUPID ARE YOU TO THINK THEY WOULD GIVE HIM A STAFF IF IT WASN'T IMPORTANT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW FICTION WORKS. After TFA they all just mysteriously disappeared and now you won't find anyone who'll admit that they bought into this shit.
