The part on the foot is fully plastic, and not painted, so the only thing that I can think of is that there might have been some kind of residue or something on the desk, like maybe a strong cleaning solution, that started to eat into the plastic and dissolve it. I'll keep an eye out, but so far I haven't had a problem yet
