Alright, so I've made my first post-closure purchase from Rakuten Japan, and it's a little tricky. I logged in with my same login from Rakuten Global, but it immediately stopped me and asked for a Japanese address. Follow this guide to get past it. In the rest of the blanks I just put my full US address and phone number (more on this later).
When I checked out, it only gave me three options-Courier (which I assume is within Japan only), EMS, or "international" shipping. I chose International, we'll see what happens with that. For what it's worth, I have a bunch of stuff that ToySanta is already holding for me, and I included a note asking them to hold this purchase with the rest of my stuff. When it came time to check out, I found that the auto-formatter had made my address all screwy and almost unreadable. I had to go in and edit in manually until it reached a readable state. It doesn't look quite right, nothing is on the right lines and I had to insert dashes and spaces to separate them from each other, but I think a postal worker should be able to figure it out.
So, we'll see what happens now. It seems that despite the assurances of Kidsroom and Toysanta, the system isn't yet well set up to handle international customers.
