The head is actually screwed on to the plate in the back, so they just used the red plastic to fill in the eyes, pretty clever way of doing it, even if it was just another means to keep the costs down (Powermaster Optimus compared to Ginrai and especially compared to some of the lofty ideas they had in the concept phase is incredibly budgeted down)
