They probably are normal sized. To clarify everything I didn't actually get a whole risk game, rather just the wooden chest cardboard 'risk' box full of soldiers which I grabbed since they made me think of miniature army men. I'm sorry for sending you looking it all up.
As for thrift finds. I always dig around for things that can unintentionally be used as accessories or props. Coolest thing I turned up this month was this sailboat.
