José García-López was the DC style designer from the 70s to the 2000’s (Pic related). Whole DC has updated most of their style guides to a more Jim Lee style,
Lopez’s guides are still used for reference when drawing past characters. DC is literally using two different style guides. Which is the definitive version? Both are, because even internally it’s still subjective.
