There's over a million ways to draw and color the him to show depth.
Again, Carnage's "mouth" has been drawn flat because there is no depth. That's why the pink has been drawn (or colored) almost flat against his head (and from angles where you'd be able to see right through his gaping wide mouth), because there is no depth, because his head is right behind the pink cover.
Again, dozens of artists in dozens of comics took the time to do this, while also drawing characters with actual mouths shadows and other techniques to show depth.
But please keep on proving how ignorant you are and how willful you need to be to remain ignorant, because you're butthurt you're wrong about a character you knew next to nothing about until the Mafex figure was announced.
