>>9732025*you start as a lowly matoran, you pick a tribe as your starting class and off you go. Gradually become more and more badass, collecting masks, fighting bohrok and rahi (with some difficulty), and upgrading your powers and weapons. Exploring the island.
Then you get the opportunity to level up to become a toa, (but you can reject the call and stay as a matoran if you want). When you become a toa you can join a clan (brotherhood of makuta ftw) or become a dark hunter and get unique powers exclusively to that clan (shadow hand op).
And basically craft whatever bionicle you want as you progress.
Then you can fight the tough bosses like the piraka, brutaka, barraki, shadowed one etc. All the way up to Teridax to supplant him as ruler of the Great Spirit Robot, or defeat him and become the Savior of the Matoran Universe (or other endings depending on what pathways you picked).
