I honestly only got into Hololive because of the Pekora figma, so that counts for something. Watching her Minecraft warcrimes was entertaining enough for me to dive in with.
Before that I was like the others with "ew, vtubers". While that is still my general consensus as well (because let's face it, many are doing it now just because it's "in"), there are some good eggs.
Only wanted Pekora and Marine, got Noel because knight. Don't care about the other two. Would've gotten them were it the 2012 prices though, because I still completed sets back then.
Can't say I would've been as interested were they to start with gen 0 or 1 desu. As an outsider I'd be joining the "they're too generic"-club.
Gen 3 looks diverse and is popular enough, especially with Pekora now being the #1 streamer. It's a safe starting point.
I think only reason HoloX is next with JP is because they're fresh.
Not stopping me from getting La+, Koyori and Iroha though.
