McFarlane tried to solve that dead eye stare by making them look away or aglance. It's a bit more lifelike, but the obvious problem is that theyre not looking where you place the head and/or only works with a specific angle.
It actually requires higher QC and more attention to detail, since straight on is more simple than off centered.
Most toylines do a fine job with the dead ahead stare though and McFarlane didn't have an issue either. He's just trying to fix what ain't broke, but that's just how he's always operated.
