When you look what JJ does in all of his films it's derivative of other peoples' work. He doesn't do original things. He also tried too hard to make things look gritty and dark.

Look at the prequels, people claim to hate them, yet I bet most people can name 3, 4, maybe even five things they liked of each one. They did new things, expanded the universe and were over-all fun and iconic.
