Megatron and Sideswipe have amazing engineering and read their transformation goals perfectly well but it's the goal itself that's retarded. You could have the most ingenious engineer in the world and he they would still shit out an overly-complicated turd because the cartoon models don't respect shit. It's impossible to make a transforming toy with two sets of roofs and shins made out of a part of the car that literally have a different aesthetic to the part they are made of without making a fiddly mess covered in panel lines.
MP44 is shit because the idea behind it is shit, not because it was badly made.
