If you have an FDM printer I recommend you try printing some of the joints of the lucky 13 figure from printables (it's free).
The tolerances are very tight and the gripper shape that grips the ball is rather narrow.
In my first tests I made the piece that held the ball more similar to those of the commercial figures but since the material I used was pla, the ball could not be inserted without breaking it because the piece was too rigid and did not allow the ball to enter and they were more boluminous than necessary.
