But what you're describing usually uses a particular type of steel, like bearing steel, often finished or plated with chrome to reduce the friction and they're immersed in oil or regularly greased. These diecast parts aren't made of steel, they're made of a tin-zinc alloy with some other soft metal in it and typically unfinished let alone polished or plated and don't hold up for tightly fitted parts.
