People tend to criticize this on the original figures for looking mechanical, but it would actually work in their favor in this case. Heck you could even put the ball joints on struts and work it into the transformation. Rubber has the *potential* to be better, but there are too many factors preventing it from working on a mass produced figure. Articulation would help sell the "exotic alien robot" theming.
