They sold him as a "shapeshifter" with the key ability to absorb nanites from the infected, but the latter never utilized that as a feature in gaining new/improved transformations. He even had a goddamn Mega Bloks line. Not only would it make te show more toyetic, I imagine it would inspire people to actually buy into the bloks, make MOC's, and send it to the creators (for a contest, even, to feature it an episode)
