"Very unfit" may not be the right word choice, but I definitely don't think they should be the go to standard in this case. I think the shape and dimensions don't lend themselves very well to this size of figure.
Included is random pic from google, but it somewhat showcases my issue with the detolfs (though it's far from the worst I've seen). If you don't use any risers like in top right, you end up with too much dead/empty space on top. The width makes it so that'd you only be able to fit 2 larger figures side by side (as showcased by Broly and Buu). It forces the display towards the middle and up, and especially for a series like Dragon Ball, where a wide lineup of characters + transformations is kind of the standard, it just doesn't work out nicely in my opinion.
