Oh yeah.
When I was a kid I had loads of the old MSIA Gundam action figures, which were pretty great. And I had some CRAZY intricate storylines set during the Universal Century setting. For instance:
>Set in the Russian Far East in 0081 UC (roughly a year after the catastrophic One Year War ended)
>The basic premise follows the Renchef Gang, uses mechs to conduct daring crimes, and the Federation squad that is assembled at the last minute to track them down
>The crimes were pretty diverse, including: attacking a military base at Vladivostok in order to steal mobile suits, attacking the Trans-Siberian railway in order to cripple any attempts to send reinforcements, a mech-assisted prison break, a kidnapping, bank robberies, etc
>With the local Federation forces crippled, a group is hastily assembled using outdated, damaged, and experimental mobile suits
>Lots of quirky, unique characters, like a creepy school-shooter type teenager who finds an abandoned mobile suit and goes on a rampage. He is later broken out of prison, along with various war criminals in order to bolster the gang’s numbers
>The Gang flees north to their frozen safe haven at Yakutsk, pursued by the Federation forces in a tense game of cat and mouse
>This finally leads to a heart-pounding climactic battle in the midst of a blizzard
Man, I remember it like it was yesterday. I would play with those figures for hours!
