Seems like only casuals care about articulation, so you're right about getting a new base. People who don't read the comics... which i don't either. Still, I don't think I'd buy anything less detailed than what McFarlane made, even if it had a ton of articulation. That ultra gritty detail is part of the appeal with Spawn.
Only company that has come close to McFarlane's detail is Mezco.
