>>10230549the interesting part of it was watching the turtles playing catch up to everybody else. turtles toys from the late 90s are some of wildest craziest shit to come from the toyline because they were taking cues from every other popular toyline on the market. Batman, Gargoyles, Power Rangers, hell the turtles even ripped off their rip offs at one point when they made dino mutant ninja turtles. The cartoon started aiming for an older audience at the same time aswell. Famously one of the concepts Laird and Eastman became keen on exploring at this time was the further mutation of the turtles. The idea cropped up in alot of media at the time and was intended to be utilized in a fourth live action film until those plans gave way to the next mutation series and that show put the franchise into hibernation for nearly a decade until 2003.
