They produce model sheets so that other artists know how the design is supposed to look from all angles, because publishers know that other artists will be drawing the same character and that design needs to be consistent.
Design matters and judging by how other companies have been consistent with the designs, it only shows how Marvel is more than willing to hand over the model sheets for any toy company to produce their toys with.
The fact that Yamaguchi, so far, has ignored the designs and just done his own thing just shows they dont care at all about how the comics are and are only making whatever they think will sell the most.
