I used Aves apoxie sculpt to sculpt the thorns and fill in gaps between the missile and head. For the thorns, I rolled out the thorn vine and wrapped it around the missile part after I attached it to the head. After it dried, I rolled out tiny thorns and attached them to the vine. It doesn't need to look perfect, just keep adding the thorns in layers.
