>Former Mattel employee here. Sometimes stores would return the product. In a weird case, if anyone remembers the Enzo Amore situation at WWE, he was accused of rape. His action figure was held at our warehouses for sometime until someone decided to just destroy them. Also, if the company can't sell product, we also have it destroyed. I tried talking to higher ups at times about donating toys that weren't selling but they'd rather destroy unopened toys than to donate them, I guess.
