I've used it for about 8-9 years but I do this hobby in bursts so it might not represent constant usage
It's loud, not loud enough to be uncomfortable or to make you fear hearing damage, and is constantly refilling the tank but it works
Ebay airbrushes also work very well but may require tinkering
China produces copies of airbrushes and different models perform better than others
The air compressors at hardware stores are likely overkill for what you need, they're more for spraying actual cars
You need an air respirator to avoid fucking up your lungs
Depending on your set up and what you're going to spray you might want a spray booth
Honestly looking at the prices of air compressors today makes me feel no shame in saying you NEED an airbrush
