The problem is that I'm not good at marketing, so I can't come up with a good line of original characters that can be exploited in additional merchandising, video games, and cartoons. Knowing my previous toys, I would also want something that can be used indefinitely and not be tied to unusual one-time use kits or proprietary polymers that tend to dry out (a particular Monsters Inc. toy from 2001 used THREE containers of different stuff).
Next, I would want it to be kid-friendly and relatively inexpensive, selling a toy line to adult collectors is never going to make it in mass marketers. The next thing is wanting them to actually DO something, either by building them or interacting with them. Finally, they're all interoperable somehow, either by mixing and matching pieces or building a larger "world". At this point, I'm looking at something akin to LEGO, Domino Rally, or Micro Machines.
