>>10298189There's definitely something odd about the style. Even as a kid I thought the faces looked a little strange, and the eyes seem perpetually too wet and shiny looking.
The cartoon smoothed things out a little for simplicity's sake, which was a good thing I think, but there was still something kind of uncanny looking about it.
