>>7425652Back in the day in comics, blue was used as a highlight for black, causing many casual readers to assume black costumes were actually dark blue. It’s actually pretty difficult to work out if Ditko intended the character to be blue or black, he’s certainly very inky in his earliest appearances, but got more blue over time. I agree black with some very subtle blue highlights would sell it perfectly.
