>>9562035Conversely I think it's more likely that the closer a movie is to being contemporary the more critical people will be of it precisely because they are so familiar with the climate around the film that it's trying to emulate that they are presumably either sick of it or can't help but comparing it in earnest to what the movie is emulating. Older cheese is more palatable precisely because it's much less familiar to us and consequently much more novel than another Matrix inspired movie, or another modern Marvel-Era Hollywood film.
More to the point, I don't think these kinds of criticism add a whole lot to the conversation since ALL the movies are "cheesy" and "antiquated" if you approach them with that mindset, and this will increasingly be the case as the movies get older. If you're here then you're clearly willing enough to engage with the films despite that fact, and if one or another doesn't resonate with you then the issue you have with the movie goes beyond just the presentation.
