Time to embark on what'll probably be a bit of a journey, cracking open the great big box of stuff that's Flyhawk's 1/700 Prince of Wales (sprue lettering runs right through most of the alphabet and on to things like "GB24", and that's before we get to all the photoetch and resin). Seems I'm the first of us who jumped on that cheap Chinese eBay seller to get going (so only up from here?) As I intend to build her as she met Bismarck Flyhawk has of course released that version since I bought this one, but oh well. I guess I'll be missing some detail on the UP launchers and their shield compared to their kit, and now at least I got some help with the paint scheme.
The first dilemma is if the brass barrels are worth the bother or not. The plastic ones aren't bad, and getting the metal barrels on straight doesn't seem entirely trivial, but not using them when they were included in the grand pack... Truly one of the great dilemmas of our time. Now, speaking of boats
>>7108870the thing I'd recommend when it comes to boats is to think long and hard about what you glue on before painting, and what you glue on afterwards, along with what to paint first (and then mask) of the deck and the hull. Also photoetch railing does a lot for the look of a ship.
>>7107782Looks quite well done, though the tow cables don't feel very natural in how they lie. It could probably have used something to liven it up a bit though, so if you'd just hop in the time machine I'm sure you have stashed under your bed and have the Russians slap a red star onto the side back when they built it...
