I've used the aqua and it seems to be a special water based acrylic specifically made to go over metallic lacquer paints.
I think the confusion and disinfo stems from these bottles being enamel despite being in a bottle that clearly says "lacquer", I've got a theory: the clearcoats are in the same line as "alclad II lacquer" and are meant to be used with their actual lacquer "alclad II lacquer" paints.
I understand because I used to think that alclad metallic was enamel at some point too.
