>>10505510I think that part of the issue is that Lego has lost it's stylistic medium between making something that represents Star Wars within a Lego universe.
Lego figure proportions are weird which is why the helmet holes don't even line up. But more then that, helmets have gotten extremely huge and prints over-detailed to a point where they look uncanny. They neither look like a good Lego or Star Wars figure.
Look at pic related, it's not super accurate or perfect by any means, but the designers found a perfect medium in design between the IP / Lego and made the right concessions on fitting the design for production. The eye cut out allows for a seamless transition in color, smaller mold size to fit the proportion of the figure and 3d effect. The less detailed print doesn't take away from it at all and it has a charming aesthetic. Designers also used colors and designs that worked well with their pad printing process so there are no transparency issues. Issues like small misalignments were easily overlooked since you could get 4 of these figures for $10 in a battlepack at the time. Things were available and priced well.
