>>8522421Yeah, I get that. Some people just can't get into the whole bubbly/rounded aesthetic of mainline Glyos, and that's cool. I can understand different tastes. I would say the main appeal of Glyos is that it's an insanely deep and customizable building system. I lose interest in a lot of building toys because it feels like the potential for truly unique silhouettes gets exhausted quickly and there just aren't many possibilities for "boundary breaking," but in Glyos, I feel like my mind gets blown all the time. People are always finding new ways to game the system, to use parts in new and interesting ways. I've been in this for almost 10 years now and I'm still getting surprised regularly.
>>8522448Well, going along with what I said earlier about him, Matt (the creator) also made his proprietary joint system free to use. So pretty much anyone can come along and do what they please with it. And yeah, when you open things up like that, you're going to inevitably get some people who don't run things so well. But it seems wrong to place the blame for all these third parties on a creator who has done nothing but be generous.
My advice? Stay away from the sister companies if you can't stand that stuff. Mainline Glyos, which is sold at Onell Design, is fairly priced, with per-customer limits to deter scalpers, and no ultra-limited or members-only type bullshit.
