If it was the old mold it would have had the same problems that the previous re-issue prime had with loose joints and degrading.
The new prime also includes little notches that will be used with Ultra Magnus so he can fit in snugger. Try it, the new Optimus prime fits into the G1 Magnus armor better than G1 Magnus himself.
