So I finally got around to picking up Gotenks after waiting for him to get discounted. I got him for $40. And I’m REALLY glad I did, I just love him! He has some fun effects, very useful stands, and I really like the faceplates he comes with. They make for a lot of great poses.
That’s not to say that he isn’t a really flawed figure though. He has a big head and he’s way too tall (practically Teen Gohan height). I also don’t get why they couldn’t give him matching sets of hands, with the right side getting two more than the left. And yeah, a base head would’ve been nice.
One thing I’ve seen people complain about him the most is loose faceplates. But after watching multiple reviews and looking at pictures, it seems like they’re just not putting them on right. The two pegs aren’t the only thing that connect the face. It’s hard to describe it, but you have to press down near his chin and towards the middle of the face in order to get it all to align right. If you do this the face will stay on much better and won’t fall off unless you mess with it too much.
All in all, this is the kind of figure you have to look past its shortcomings and get a good deal on to enjoy. But he is lots of fun to mess around with and pose. I can’t wait for a SS3 version, be it official or from DF.
