>>7683389>>7683432Reagan’s good was primarily doing nothing.
His wife was a crazy fortune teller and he was suffering the early stages of senility, so as a result they actually did very few active things.
This basically put a lot of power back into the hands of states to get shit done stateside, meanwhile he was schmoozing with the leader of the Soviet Union who was dealing with the clusterfuck of its death, and the resulting unintentional charm campaign coupled with Thatcher in the UK being the bad cop to his good cop secured a peaceful transition of the breakup of the Soviets. At least for the part that became Russia, for the most part. That’s a big deal considering Soviet generals were encouraging starting World War 3 to intentionally “make Earth the Soviet Union’s grave”.
Reagan’s actual policies range from retarded to ineffective to a mixed bag. He helped give rise to the fucking megacorps we have today with massive deregulation, but also ironically created the modern PC culture with harsh standards for dealing with misbehavior and poor social messaging. He also successfully told Nixon’s “silent majority” to shut the fuck up and vote Republican without expecting to actually have a say on decision making. Something that to a lesser degree Bush JR and to the absolute maximum degree Trump reversed, causing the rise and metamorphosis of the Tea Party movement into the MAGApedes you see today. Also, he unintentionally and unknowingly planted the seeds for what would be the conflict in the Middle East that Bush SR would totally fall into which directly lead to our shitfuck world state today.
The problem with Reagan isn’t him being great or terrible. Its people wanting to see him purely as good or bad for the country and the world as a whole. Like Michael Jackson, for politics.
