I love the design too so I had to get it. It's a lovely figure with a superb paint finish, it really looks just as good in-hand as it does in review pics. The wings are extremely well executed, there's a healthy spread of accessories and display options as well. I'd absolutely recommend the figure to fans of the design.
That being said, I preordered so I only had to pay around $280. I would not have bought it for $500 (but I'd be very hesitant to shell out that much for any single toy). If you're a huge fan of Wing EW and need the Metal Composite for your collection, it may be worth considering the figure because it is so well-done and it will never be reissued (because it was an exclusive, though there is the small chance of a re-painted version being offered someday). But you really gotta think about what you're going to do with the figure. Do you have an awesome display with the perfect spot to place the Wing EW front and center? Are you gonna mess around with it or at least take the time to admire it regularly? Will you really be able to get $500 worth of enjoyment out of a single, 1/100 scale Wing EW, when you could buy 2-3 Metal Builds or other high quality mecha toys for the same price?
If you can answer yes to those questions, it might be worth it to you. Personally, I'd rather spend that money on 2-3 Metal Builds, but I just like having mecha toys in general. If I loved Wing EW above everything else, it'd probably be better to just spend the money on the Wing instead of buying toys of designs I didn't love as much.
In short, what
