When it came time to update him, for some reason they didn't give him a crappy update, they seem to have just used the same ol' helmet mold as the original. Which I'm alright with, but it is surprising. Looks kinda mushy after all these years, and the duller silver and matte eye paint apps look worse than the original, but it's unmistakably the same helmet.
