Initial shit needs to be improved, because of the creators involved not having everything figured out yet.
The first products released are always going to be rough and can always be improved based on consumers' reactions (for both physical products and tv/movies/books/etc).
Here's a pretty good example of how a toy company improved after their first wave was just mediocre as fuck.
