Intended to roll out alongside the refurbished RGM-79R GM II machines under the Federation Forces Reconstruction Plan, several GM variants in service saw a handful of machines given similar overhauls. This GM Sniper II for example was fitted with more powerful sensors, magnetic joint coatings, wrist mounts for additional weapons and a modernized beam sniper rifle, powered by a 1518kw GM II-type reactor. As the GM Sniper II already out-performed the new GM II, such modernizations were quickly deemed excessive and the project was shelved after production of just a handful of units.
