>>5887902I dunno. I don't have much of a problem with the current sets, either. Their creator stuff is great, the licensed sets are great, even the core stuff like City is staying fresh despite being long out of original material to work with.
I don't think Lego will have a problem again. A lot of the issues surrounding their early 2000s crash were born from the fact that Lego just simply wasn't analyzing or restraining themselves. They had never had an issue making money in the past and just didn't care. Nobody was really watching where there money was coming from or going to. They underwent a very strict restructuring to ensure that wouldn't happen again.
>>5887903Actually, one of the few sets I would consider "bad" from my childhood was the Alien interstellar starfighter. As I recall, it was a $100+ set, but had a ludicrously low piece count. A lot of its bulk was made of big, solid panels and slopes. It did feature a motor and fiber optics, so clearly a lot of the cost went into that.
And I say that the set was "bad" on paper, but did little 11-year-old me love it? Hell yeah, I did. Endless hours were spent helping my Lego city repel the alien invasion.
