Hopefully they handwave it in the future as like a different species of Kig-Yar or something (by the way, does anyone talk about the Skirmishers anymore?).
The Grunts aren't that bad, especially when you see what they originally looked like (pic related) - all they really changed was the mask and armor.
The Elites look fucking terrifying now, how can anyone hate it? Honestly the Elites didn't change that much - my biggest gripe was that the Covenant elites got rid of the arm armor - it made them look like they were wearing metal tanktops, and it looked fucking stupid.
