They'll literally will cancel projects if it'll only make them a million dollars instead of tens of millions. Giant companies are incredible penny pinchers and are really strict on putting resources into only worthwhile ventures.
This means they'd rather let any Haslab die than put in any money into it. I think the Rancor was only a few thousand short of reaching its goal. There's been at least one other Haslab that also died short and a few nonstarters. Hasbro can't be bothered if it's not going to hit that minimum sales number.
Besides, why pump up numbers when the cantina was an ensured to hit its goal? Big endings are always ensured if there's hype for the product. No backer/pledge tracker ever accounts for this, because they don't monitor youtube and internet forums, which have been constantly talking about the cantina.
