Consider instead; pastels and watercolor pencils(must be watercolor pencils, the wax in normal colored pencils is going to be undesirable here since it will resist any paint you put over it). You use a knife to rub some off as powder, then apply with a brush for a really soft effect, and the pencil for harder lines, with paint and brush reserved for only the hardest. Fixing with MSC between layers, too. Consider swapping the acrylics for watercolors as well. Pic related was my fix face up with the same materials.
