From what I've heard, there is a bit of a risk in making a really "old-school" type of theme in the modern era, especially with how every theme now has a TV series tie in, or app, or whatever. The best hope for sets like this in the near future before Star Wars fatigue kicks in would be a small City subtheme again focusing on lunar stuff.
Also the 40th anniversary of classic space is coming up really soon...
