A single 5mm peg is not enough to plug two deluxes together. They molded some small grooves on Darkwing to try and stabilize the connection, but that doesn't do shit when the peg is too long and Dreadwind's angled feet wouldn't let the peg piece reach deep enough anyway. I'd say maybe having wings that could tab together would save it, but even if that were the case they wouldn't line up properly because almost every single Dreadwind has its turquoise wing liftarms assembled in reverse with two bolts on each side.
Darkwing's head sticking out of the top is just insult to injury.
