It's not the most exciting set, or from a good movie, or even something I never took apart, but this pod racing set was the most fun I ever had with lego. I was never really into the movies, but I was addicted to the Pod Racing game on pc, and so my parents got me this to go along with it. I loved the hell out of it, and made them race around and crash in violent explosions like the game. I thought it was especially funny when it happened to Anakin since my sadistic little kid mind thought a child getting incinerated and smeared on the road was hilarious. The regular destruction of them led to me eventually turning them into like 10 or 12 custom racers, and who knows how many more random ships and robots. Those orange laser effect parts were just an invitation to make all kinds of ships or even roleplay guns.
It was this set that really got me into LEGO before eventually getting a Bionicle and ultimately becoming the manchild failure I am today. I suppose it just encapsulates the spirit of fun Lego seems to be going for.
