I fell into this trap with Spider-Man. Sure it was cool in theory to think "hey I'll collect the rogues, and it'll be an awesome display!" but it wasn't.
My biggest hold I kept falling in was buying one thing that I really liked, and then buying related items just to keep the feeling going. For example, I bought Retro Spider-Man which is a A+ figure. . .and then I bought more Spider-Man, villains, side-characters. Most of them are in a box, or bagged. The only one that mattered was the original Retro Spider-Man I originally coveted.
Another one was Transformers. I definitely overdid Transformers.
