A particularly well-known example would be Tom Bombadil, a somewhat goofy character who is implied to be the LOTR universe's hands-off god. He probably also read ASOIAF and realized that Tyrion Martin's self-insert, but unlike Tom, both Rung and Tyrion are much more actively involved in the plot.
