I stopped partaking in them because even when I pay EMS shipping alone I usually end up paying less simply because the chance is higher that my small order slips through customs than some bigass box full of stuff.
You are correct, they will still have to pay the same amount of custom fees, if not higher.
Where I live you have three tiers:
>less than 22€ valueNo fee at all
>less than 110€"only" VAT (19% for dolls)
>more than 110€VAT + customs (19% + 4.7% in case of dolls)
In case of group orders I'd probably always end up in the last tier, while ordering alone means I rarely get past 110€.
Honestly worth ordering alone. Also means I get my stuff faster, don't have to communicate with someone, can handle issues myself etc.
